The fact that there will be a also murder heightens our anxiety as readers. The writing style is quite wordy and slows down the pace of the story making it tiresome in some areas.The writer has successfully made Kate a likeable character making us as readers feel deeply sympathetic for her situation which threatens to tear apart her family. There was a paragraph in the extract which struck out to me and increased my sympathy for Kate where she discovers that Sean is cheating on her and we witness her battling a wave of emotional turmoil and overwhelming disappointment: 'This is what it feels like: it’s as if you’re falling... Everything you’ve built.'
Overall,the book seems promising and one is one i look forward to reading.
