I absolutely flew through this book. Two days. That was all it took. From the very outset, I couldn't put it down. The character development of the main family, even in a space of time as short as a week, was stunning. I felt for all of the characters, even the ones that were supposed to be a bit iffy. To me, that is the sign of a good writer. I'll be picking up more of this author's books and if they're anything like this, I'll be in for a treat.
I loved the setting, sunny France, and the fact that something as mundane as a family holiday, can go horribly wrong. You're left guessing until the very end of the book, even then it's an unexpected twist.
I can't begin to explain how much I'd love to visit the villa used in the story! The juxtaposition between such a beautiful scene, and such tension between the families, makes for a guilty pleasure of a book.
I would highly recommend this book. Particularly for reading beside the pool on your holidays!
