Kate and her family are finally on holiday – a gaunt with her university friends to France to celebrate their fortieth birthdays. With their moody teenager, Lucy, and her excitable son, Daniel, Kate and Sean prepare for a week in a large house with three other families, but something isn’t right. Kate suspects that Sean’s up to something. Not long after their arrival, while Sean goes to play in the swimming pool with Daniel, Kate hears Sean’s phone pinging from the bedside drawer. She knows she shouldn’t but just has to know. She looks at the phone and sees message between Sean and ‘CoralGirl’, messages a married man should never send to someone else, but there’s something even worse than the run-of-the-mill affair here, one text reads ‘We’ll decide when we’re in France’. Sean’s mistress is here – it’s one of Kate’s best friends. Welcome to The Holiday.

Well, this holiday sounds like an absolute nightmare to me! Hormonal teenagers, a spoiled, screaming 5 year old, a mother in denial about her two sons, a couple who won’t get off their phones because of their careers, a wife convinced her husband is having an affair – it just sounds like a holiday from hell. I’ve got to say, I started this at 6pm, went to bed at 10.30pm, woke up at 6am and finished the book by 7.30am – I couldn’t put it down, and if it weren’t for work the next day, I probably would have stayed up to the wee hours of the morning to finish it. I must confess, this book has been on my shelf for months and I never fancied reading it, now I’m wondering why I didn’t as soon as it arrived! I really did enjoy this one and I’m now looking forward to reading my next T.M.Logan book ‘The Catch’
