Another good and enjoyable read from this author. This novel is full of twists and turns with an unexpected ending.

It firstly starts off and appears to be a novel about an affair and infidelity between a wife and husband. However, this novel is much, much more than this. It is a novel that explores a number of very complex themes and emotions. It explores the power of friendship and relationships; the role of deceit and lies; and the impact of grief and mental health.

These themes are introduced and explored mainly through the perspective of the main character Kate. However, other character perspectives were also utilised, adding another layer and depth to the narrative.

Although I felt each character was well developed, in particular I was drawn to Daniel’s character. I really felt a connection where I related with his view. At times I felt the presence of tears and the willing to just embrace him in a hug. I felt a great deal of empathy with this character and with that of Kate.

Further to this, the novel was written in an easy writing style with short chapters, aiding an easy read and flow.

Although I enjoyed reading this novel, I did feel it was a little slow to begin with. The dynamic and pace of the book appeared to change about halfway through though, making the story a lot more intriguing and mysterious.

Additionally, even though the novel got better as it went along and the plot setting was fantastic, I did feel at times that the story was missing something. Maybe more character perspectives could of been presented to add another level of mystery. Furthermore, I found myself thinking and feeling that a murder could of occurred sooner in the story line. The ending also felt a little rushed a lacking slightly in detail.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read and very much looking forward to reading more by T M Logan.
