Kate and her family are joining three of her university friends and their families on a memorable holiday in Provence to mark them all reaching their 40th year. Arranged by Rowan, one of the four friends, they arrive at a luxury villa with all mod cons to take what promises to be the holiday of a lifetime.

Kate loves her husband Sean and her family dearly but has a feeling things haven’t been quite right between her and Sean for a while and when, shortly after their arrival at the villa, his phone beeps to alert an incoming message, against her better judgement, she manages to unlock his phone and read the message. That is the beginning of what will be anything but a happy holiday.

The message warns Sean to delete it as soon as he’s read it and that they will meet during the week to talk and it’s obviously from a woman - Coral Girl.

So begins Kate’s detective work to find out which of her three close friends could be the one who is betraying her.

I really enjoyed this book. The oppressive heat in Provence jumps from the pages and makes the reader feel it themselves.

All the characters are memorable for different reasons and the tension gradually ratchets up as we learn more about each of them.

It is quite fast paced and although the reader really wants to learn the truth, they won’t want it to end either.

One of those that once the last page is turned, you feel sad that it has ended and the characters stay in the mind for long after the end.
