This is a genre I normally love; magic, fantasy, all things weird and wonderful. The style in which this is written took be a couple of pages to get used to. The chapters are very short, sometimes only a page long, and the sentences are hurried, descriptive, to the point. It works though. It helps to set the tone of the story, and helps the flow of one chapter into another. Within a blink I had read the whole first impression and could easily have read more!
