I am fascinated by all things Victorian, having just finished analysing the works of Dickens with my son of the time period for GCSE. Here we are introduced to Mrs Holdsworth and Martha as the first occupants in the cottage. The isolated dreary description of the cottage already foreshadows of experiences to come.
