A place for fallen women, Urania Cottage is the backdrop to this captivating and thrilling story of women dealing with hardships and attempting to build new lives for themselves.

This novel is set in London 1847 at Urania Cottage, a home set up by Charles Dickens for a group of fallen women. A place for second chances, these women were encouraged to learn skills and prepare for a new life in the colonies.

We also follow the story of Angela Burdett-Coutts, a wealthy benefactor of the house, facing difficulties herself with a decade’s long plight with a stalker.

Despite the women’s various challenges, we see their relationships with one another bloom and unfold throughout the story - their support and compassion for one was heartening to read. I was immediately swept into the story, and following each of the women’s lives I was eager for them to get their second chances and find happiness at long last. I thought this was a gripping, fast-paced read and I can’t wait to see what Stacey writes next!
