This isn’t my usual genre so it took a bit more effort to read but that said the language is very approachable for a historical novel which made such a difference to me. I loved the use of Urania Cottage and such places always make me think of how much has altered over the years but the concept of such a place then is incredible so it really fascinated me. I wasn’t as captured by the stalker story featuring Angela, I think I just found her character less appealing to me somehow but the ‘fallen’ women did hold my attention far more. I really wasn’t sure how this would progress to be honest but the fates of the women were varied and intriguing. I’m not sure I had a favourite character but when I realised after reading that Urania Cottage was a real location with genuine links to Dickens and Angela it almost made the stories of each character more remarkable and questioning if truth is stranger than fiction.
