I was so excited to receive an early copy of The Household by Stacey Halls. I have her other books and thoroughly enjoyed them.
The Household is a novel set in Victorian London and is based of the real life 'Urania Cottage' which was set up as a home for 'fallen women' in 1846 by Charles Dickens and millionairess Angela Burdett-Coutts. These women would then be trained and offered a second chance at life.
Angela Burdett-Coutts lives only a few miles away in her Piccadilly mansion and learns that her stalker of ten years has now been released from prison and fears he could come for her.
There are many twists and turns as we follow these women and we get to know the characters really well and I loved how the friendships developed.
As always, Stacey Halls has well researched and beautifully written another historical fiction book that is atmospheric and heart-warming which I would highly recommend.
