The author of 'The Familiars' and 'The Foundling', Stacey Halls does not disappoint with her latest offering set in 1847 London. A wonderfully rich and descriptive tome on life at this time, this historical account is alive with language that makes us feel we are there. Halls does historically writing so well, and the dark vibes of the book make the words jump off the page and want to read on. Another beautiful book from a skilled writer, the cover is also instagram worthy and will look perfect in any home library. The red and gold contrast of the images and letters, and simplistic imagery of the two women within the letters perfectly captures the essence of The Household, while also hinting at its mysterious nature. I am a huge fan of this genre, and of Halls as a writer, and will be waiting with baited breath for her next offering. A wonderful read and a great addition to my collection.
