I really enjoyed this book and learned a lot as I didn't realise that it is based around fact
It is set in the late 1800s and Charles Dickens along with Angela Burdett-Coutts have bought Urania Cottage
in a place where it isn't noticed too much and taken in some young woman who had just left prison who had fallen on harder times than usual during that period of time.
There is a committee set up for making it run correctly and Mrs Holdsworth is the live-in Matron.
The first girl that was taken in is called Martha, she is taken there blindfolded so she wouldn't know the location of where they were going to.
Martha seems to be a sweet girl, just down on her luck.
At Urania Cottage they will learn new skills so they can get work when at the end of their time they can go to Australia for a better life.
Along with this part of the book Angela’s story of being stalked for years is exciting and then there are other stories about the girls.
I loved it and also decided to get her other books.
I would certainly recommend it.
