What I liked straight away was the writing style was very real, it came across a lot like the thoughts of the character, as well as being descriptive.
The cover of The Ice House doesn't particularly scream anything, but it makes you think it could be a heartfelt, good contemporary novel, and that's backed up in the first chapter.
