I have said this in other reviews and I will say it again, the first few pages of a book, for me, are the deal breaker to whether I will want to read further or not and this book was no exception. Laura Lee Smith has an amazing way of writing which draws you in with every word. I cant wait for this book to come out and even if I don't win it I will definitely be buying it! I was hooked right from the first page. I felt the frustration of Pauline who wanted to hold the family together and "mend the fence" and the frustration of Johnny being so difficult while at the same time feeling ad for Johnny because he wasn't feeling well. You just want to keep reading when, at the end of the preview Johnny collapses but cruelly leaves you with a cliff-hanger because its the end of the preview. Hopefully it wont seem like an age before I am able to get my hands of this fantastic read!
