Initially, the beautiful cover is what attracted me to this book, and when I read that it was perfect for fans of Sarah Waters, I knew this was going straight on my TBR pile!
When I started reading, the language pulled me straight in. Poetic descriptions in a historical setting gave me instant connectivity to the characters and built an image in my minds eye immediately.
I am very keen indeed to continue with this story, as I've a feeling it is going to be exactly what I love in the genre. Atmospheric, dark and intriguing. My taste in reads without a doubt.
