This story told the life of Ursula Flight from childhood to motherhood. Ursula was incredibly likeable, a little naive and a little annoying.

The story was well-researched and gave a great insight into what it must have been like for women at that time. It made me realise how lucky I am to be born when I was.

I loved the description of the theatre at the time and the King’s court.

I also liked that the characters didn’t have perfect lives but some of the most important things worked out for them. So it felt more realistic.

Ursula was a strong, independent woman who got through some really tough things in her life. I liked that she was the main character of the novel and fought for her right to do what she wanted & something that was not typical for women at that time. There should be more books with strong female leads like this.

Downsides, the book was fairly long and I could see that putting some people off.
