The Illumination of Ursula Flight is the whole package. The cover, and inner artwork, are stunning and the story itself is beautifully told.
I've only recently began to increase the frequency in which I read historical fiction novels and to date I have found a lot to be quite 'stuffy'. Ursula Flight is a welcome change from the norm.
Ursula's story is narrated in the first person which gives us an insight into the mind of a child, a teen and a woman growing up in the seventeenth century.
I know a lot of readers tend to dislike this method of narration but I felt it worked very well to tell Ursula's story.
Also, I was shocked to discover that this is the debut novel of Anna-Marie Crowhurst. After reading Ursula Flight, I'm eagerly awaiting more.
