"The Island" is a modern adaption of "Lord of the flies" and already this is very interesting. the main character is a geek, previously homeschooled, an American living in England. As a geek myself, who always got picked last in sports and now lives abroad there are certain elements with which I can identify myself.
my first impression is also anger, not directed at the book but at the mistreatment of Lincoln in the school. It makes me root for him even more and now I am emotionally invested in the story, well done.
I also very much like the cover, as I like the strong black-white-red contrast and minimalistic design.
