I'm not sure how I feel about this one. Whilst I like the idea of a modern take on Lord of the Flies, I think this is dangerous territory considering it's a bit of a classic. It's feels like the author is trying to hard to be modern; constantly naming celebrities, tv shows, shops and games, so the book isn't going to age very well. I'm also put off by the description of Link as a stereotypical geek who can't play sports or get a girlfriend but loves maths and playing Fortnite. I'd be interested to stick with this to see how it goes, but the first look really doesn't have me excited. I feel this may be aimed more at slightly younger teens who appreciate the modern references and may feel themselves like a 'lesser-spotted geek'.
