Ideal holiday read
When I first read the blurb on this book I thought that maybe it was jumping on the popularity band wagon ie gin, like the numerous books on cupcakes, bakeries etc in the love of The Great British Bake Off. This book is warm, funny and overall quite a different read. The characters are portrayed very well especially the main character. Her back story is quirky yet believable. And Set in a museum is such a great idea. Getting the feeling of old folk lore, smuggling and evading the authorities; the idea of setting up a gin distillery under the museum in order to save it from distinction is inspired. The book will have you smirking, wiping a tear but mostly wanting to roll up your sleeves and help save the museum. Really good.
