I was pleasantly surprised by this book as soon as (and all the time) I was reading it. I thought it would be a boring, flimsy story about a middle-aged woman finding a new man... but it is so much more than that. The characters are interesting, the narrator and main character is very witty and not the pushover she initially appears to be, and her children are great too. This is quite a gentle book - even the ex-husband and the idiotic councillor Dave are shown to have a better side in the end. I really got involved in Jen's adventure, and hoped that she would be successful. Overall this is not a masterpiece of serious literature, but an extremely readable, well written and fun story. I would like to read more by this author.
