First off thank you to Readers First for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest opinion and also just to say how much nicer the UK edition of this book is than the US.

I had heard a lot of hype surrounding this book especially from BookTubers saying how good this was, although Romance is not a genre I gravitate towards I liked the sound of it and I admit the hype was too much to ignore.

Stella Lane is 30 years old and never had a proper relationship, she is a workaholic, doesn’t have time for men in her set routine plus she struggles to really find someone who understands her and her Aspergers. Her mother is becoming impatient and informs Stella that she is ready for grandchildren and will see if she can set her up with one of her friends sons for the upcoming charity ball.

She has her eye on a man at work but he seems to be experienced and already got dates lined up with the interns, something this man says gives Stella an idea, she is going to hire an escort to help her be good at sex, so when she does manage to find someone at least she will not be awkward in that part of the relationship.

I really really enjoyed this book, for a debut novel this was perfect and that’s coming from me, the person that has become so critical of everything that I read that it has taken till July to find a five-star read. First off the relationship between Stella and Michael was absolutely brilliant, it wasn’t problematic or bordering on abusive that some books portray it was just two people enjoying each other.

Then there is Michael who is Vietnamese and Swedish and oh so hot, well he sounds hot and I pictured him as being hot, he is one of the kindest people you will meet, it’s slowly gets revealed why he is escorting and the reason behind it is just heart-breaking. The family dynamics in Michael’s family is just great and complex even though we see them through a small portion of them, they are always on his mind and I would love another book with more of the family in it.

Stella Lane’s character development and growth in this book is incredible, she has to overcome the boundaries that she has set herself and stuff that she finds disgusting such as french-kissing is a hurdle that she needs to get over. The woman she becomes throughout the book is totally different to the one we met at the beginning. I believe this is a ‘own voices’ book and that the author also has Asperger’s Syndrome so the representation should be on point as I have never been around anyone with autism I cannot say.

This is a book that I definitely needed, it had a perfect blend of romance and other stories going on in the background and deserves all the hype that it is receiving.

This book has a lot of steamy sex scenes so I would not recommend anyone under 18 reading it.

I rated this 5 out of 5 stars.
