Do you ever just read a book where you’re only four chapters in but you know it’s not only going to be a 5 star, but also end up on your favourite reads of the year? That’s what The Kiss Quotient was for me.

I don’t usually read romance books, the most I’ve read before this was Me Before You and After You by Jojo Moyes. The second one was an abomination. And the most ‘sexy’ stuff I have read is Sarah J Maas. So jumping into ‘adult’ romance is a whole new thing for me. But I seriously loved this book. It was the perfect amount of humour, cute and ooh la la mixed together. Helen Hoang had some seriously amazing scenes in here.

The first ‘sexy’ scene is probably my most favourite scenes of all time. Michael notices her anxiety, apprehension, and the way in which she tenses up at touch. Instead, he takes it at her pace. Tells her as a warning before he kisses, and even then it’s light. He constantly checks up that things are okay, warnings, at any point she freezes on him he stops. And this is something that continues as they progress with their ‘lessons’.

The way Helen Hoang tackles Asperger’s was incredible. I wasn’t too knowledgeable on the subject, I knew it’s name and that was it. The most beautiful thing about this, is that Stella isn’t just defined by Asperger. It’s a big part to who she is, but there’s so much more to her than that. She’s still a strong and independent woman, successful at her job, lives by herself, and has an ish load of money. She doesn’t need a man to come and take care of her. And that doesn’t change through the relationship either, she still remains as her own individual person.

"When you love someone, you fight for them in every way you know how."
– The Kiss Quotient

It is incredibly hard to put down. I found myself smiling at the book, squealing like a little girl at some scenes, and showing parts to my partner because I just had to share it with someone. If you’re not often a romance reader, or an expert but haven’t read this yet – please do. I can not put into words how amazing this is. This review barely touches the surface of how incredible it is. Give it a go, thank me later.

So I finished reading it in the morning. And by 4pm I hit reading blues. I was missing Stella and Michael. I wanted to jump right back in and re-read it all over again. And then re-read it a million times more.
