CHARACTERS
The heart of this book was definitely the characters! Already from the cover text you can see that they are a unique mix, because how many times have you read about an economic genius with autism and an escort boy who has a heart of gold? At least I never have and this book has set the bar very high for possible future novels. Not only is there experimenting with a great basic idea, but also with gender roles. I’m still so excited that Stella is the one with a lot of money and less social skills and Michael with a warm character but little money. It gives the story a unique twist and showed me as a typical “Badboy” “Good Girl” reader how great it can be when a “Golden Boy” meets a “Golden Girl”, but there are still obstacles in between. I can only say that it was impossible for me to not let them into my heart, because about such loving characters that are BOTH real Girlfriend/Boyfriend material is rarely written. So this book is the perfect diversion!
The supporting characters in this book are just as promising and so I’m really looking forward to the following books, with which Helen Hoang will enchant us next.

Those who want to have a shocking plotwist or a dramatic past that makes you cry and rage are unfortunately wrong here. This book is more relevant to the category “Cozy Romance". Although there are actually unsightly, unprocessed pastes that gnaw at the characters and give a realistic picture, it is not overdramatized and the focus is on the wonderful love story that begins between Michael and Stella. However, this is step by step pure perfection! The relationship between the two, or rather getting to know each other, meets the right level of sexyness and sweetness. So if you’re into feelings and spice, you have the right mix right in front of you with this book. I personally find the pace at which the relationship progresses very pleasant and also the small “explosion” that makes for a piece of drama was not too much expanded, so one likes to read on, as the fact that I write this review at 5 am after long happy hours of reading proves.
WRITING
Here again, the familiar problem arises for me. Helen Hoang decided to write the book from the narrator’s perspective, which, at least for me, caused irritation time and again. Often it is not clear who is speaking and what exactly is meant, which unfortunately really bothered me, because otherwise this book was so great! This relaxed and yet emotional writing style in the perspective of me and I see this book in the reading sky!
Conclusion: Anyone who needs a change from badbooys or has a weakness for the young hearts of this book world should not miss Michael! In this book you will find the perfect blend of Spice and the heart-warming scenes that make up a loving relationship perfected with unique, authentic characters!
