Pure Joy

“Love, he found, was a jail. It trapped, and it clipped wings. It dragged you down, forced you to places you didn’t want to go”

I’ve planned to read this book for ages but then something new pops out. Last week I received an ARC of the sequel of the book - The Bride Test. That was the push up I needed to get my hands on The Kiss Quotient.

As you may know, the book was awarded to be a Goodreads Romance novel of 2018.

I don’t think that the story is something that you’ve never seen before. But then you feel the ‘secret message’ between the lines and it’s pure joy.

Stella is a genius. She is one of the best econometricians in Silicon Valley, big incomes and money, she doesn't know what to do with. Because all she does is working. From 8 AM to 6 PM. From Monday to Sunday. And yes, she doesn't have a social life. She is an autistic girl who simply doesn't know how to behave with people. She sucks with sex, relationships, and friendship. She is a career driven girl and likes it that way. But when her mother pushes her to find a boyfriend, she decides she needs somebody to teach her.

Michael is an escort. Working only on Friday night he has a policy of never going out with the same woman twice. Until Stella. Little, sweet Stella. The one who takes all his walls down. His love for his mother is absolutely beautiful. Although he dreams about becoming a designer, he put his mother health in the first place.

I adored both of them so much. I've never read about a person with autism. I've never met one as well. But she is so cute and clumsy there is no other way but to feel for her. On the other hand, Michael is gentle. Even though he is an escort, he is not arrogant with confidence over the high peaks. I started to warm up for him from the very beginning and mostly because he comes back for Stella and decides to help her. But I fell in love with him after the author meets us with his family and reveals what he has to do to help his mother.

This book draws you in from page one and keeps you wanting more and more from it. (Yes, I finish it in one sitting for approx. 5 hours. And I didn't move for 5 hours - not even to go to the toilet or to take a cup of water.) As you can suppose it is steamy and smutty as you may expect from a New Adult book. But not at all cheesy. Every intimate scene comes right in time. Author teased us a bit, tho. But it is beautifully written and I can't wait to read the sequel.

Actually, I'm going to start The Bride Test right now!
