For once a romance book not full of cliches, the kiss quotient hits the mark of being a fresh and fun read for an avid romance reader.

Stella, who has Asperger’s, is a refreshing change from the average lead in a romance novel. Unsure about her ability to have a relationship, she hires escort Michael, who turns out to be incredibly respectful and refuses to go anywhere beyond Stella’s boundaries.

Some of the scenes can result in some cringing, but stand to show just how important diversity in books are, as we see Stella struggle with intense social anxiety, reading social cues, and a lack of spatial awareness.

Meanwhile Michael, who is frustrating at times with his lack of trust for Stella, although understandable, is sweet and understanding from the get go. Arguably one of the better male leads from the romance genre, and a nice breath of fresh air from the typical controlling assholes in these kinds of books.

Overall, it’s a sweet and sometimes spicy read, and well worth the time invested in reading it
