The book cover immediately brings the period setting of the book to life. I love historical fiction but the 1300s isn't a time I'm overly familiar with. I was pleasantly surprised. The author has managed to bring a feel and smell of that time. The characters are already fully formed so early into the novel. I very much want to find out what happens next.
