This isn’t a terrible book by any means but it’s shear size and weight made it impossible to read whilst on commute to work or in most of the places I usually read. Meaning it took me longer to get through.
I was so excited to win a copy of this book as this a period in time that I have always been interested in. The Black Death has always fascinated me, I’ve often thought not only about the devastation it brought to the county but also how those who survived coped with their loses.
The characters in this story were in this story though, either hugely unlikeable and down right nasty or overly and unrealistically nice so I found it hard to relate and sympathise with them. The size and weight coupled with the above meant i gave up around the half way point which is something I rarely do.
