Avery has had more than her share of pain and heart break during her life and as she loses one family member after another, her rage grows. Ultimately her rage gets her into trouble. One step away from jail and ostracised by her friends and the community of Littleport she is befriended by Sadie Loman, a socialite, and her wealthy family. Sadie and Lucy become close friends until Sadie is suddenly found dead from a suspected suicide.
A year on and Avery is still trying to come to terms with this most recent and in many ways most tragic of losses. The Loman’s who control most of the property in Littleport have not been back since the night that Sadie was found dead but then her brother Parker returns to help plan a commemoration event for Sadie. Soon Avery is not at all clear as to what happened a year ago as she finds her every action watched and as she begins to suspect that Sadie’s death was not a suicide.
This is a good though at times predictable thriller but even when this is the case it is still a good read.
