A Good Thriler

The Last House Guest was the first book by Megan Miranda that I had read, and so I was unsure whether I would enjoy it. The cover was misleading, the vibrant colours, the pink lettering; I felt didn't do the book justice, but it did make it stand out on the bookshelf! The plot was good and full of twists and turns, but it didn't have me on the edge of my seat as some thrillers usually do.

The characters were well written and believable, but I did find it difficult to navigate and visualise the small seaside town at times. Miranda is good at describing the characters, their relationships and setting the scene though. Even the weather! You got a feel of the relationships between each other as the book flicked back and forward through time, and I found myself routing for the truth to be told!

After reading this, I would definitely read more of Miranda's books and look forward to the next one.
