The lovely cover to this book is extremely tactile, and I was excited to read the blurb and looked forward to finding out what the twist was, but ultimately felt disappointed that there were a few too many convenient coincidences along the way.
The structure worked well and was quite clear in its time frame, although it did seem to go over the same ground many times, with no new details or twists being added.
I wasn’t sure whether or not Avery was a reliable narrator, and that was one of my issues. I didn’t feel I got under the skin of Avery and her friendship with Sadie wasn’t really developed. The character I felt most interest in was Connor.
There are lots of hints about Avery’s past, but they are not followed up.
As to the final twists, I’m just not sure…
Overall, I quite enjoyed this novel but was not convinced by the ending.
