The story follows troubled Avery, who has no family members remaining following several family tragedies. Avery lives in Littleport and is befriended by Sadie Loman, who is the daughter in the family who owns most of the seasonal rental properties in Littleport and is very high in the social chain of Littleport.
When Sadie is found dead on the beach during the annual Plus-One party, the death is initially ruled as a suicide however, a year on Avery is finally piecing together what really happened that night. This story is twisty, with a few climatic points.
I really did enjoy Megan's wiring style in this book flitting between summer 2017 and summer 2018 however, I really wanted some of the twists to have a bit more drama. The plot twist at the end, which I believe should have been the most dramatic seemed slightly rushed. I had not really suspected the ending and it really didn't seem to fall into place for me. I did really like the story line though and it was easy to follow and easy to read. I hope to read some more of Megan Miranda's books in the future.
