This book was a good read and I did enjoy it. Set in a small coastal town in America you got a great sense of place and time. However the overall feeling of the book was very much middle of the road. I felt that the characters were rather flat so I didn't feel the pull of the mystery Avery was trying to solve. The mystery itself was a bit of an anticlimax - yes a slight twist at the end but I had worked out the main gist 2/3 of the way through. Add to this the flatness of the main characters and I don't think I really cared one way or another.
It was an easy read and would make a nice beach read but it does not stand out amongst a very packed genre. Nothing new to be found in this book which is a shame.
