In The Last House Guest Megan Miranda expertly builds up the tension up to, and including the final thrilling chapters. Avery Greer is the main character in this novel whose best friend, Sadie, was found dead some years previously, presumably, however things are not always as they seem and Avery begins to suspect that Sadie might have been killed. If she was then Avery herself could well become the main suspect. The author introduces the readers to the various people, both locals and visitors, who came into contact with Sadie and her family during the summer of Sadie's death. Along the way I suspected quite a few of the characters as possibly having been responsible for Sadie's death, if it wasn't suicide, but the end still came as a surprise. This book will undoubtedly be on the reading list of all those who enjoy a well-written thriller.
