The book cover is so simplistic yet enticing and really makes me want to find out more. The black illustrations of the tree and figures amongst the striking orange is so eye catching. I would definitely pick this up to have a closer look.
Japanese history isn't a topic I know much about but I'm immediately intrigued after looking at the synopsis. Despite not being a fan of historical novels, the first impression really convinced me to keep on reading with its heartbreaking exploration into the nuclear warfare of Hiroshima. The writing style of prose integrated with poetry was so interesting and I was genuinely shocked to reach the end of the extract. Can't wait to read more of this novel.
