Whilst I appreciate the author's sentiment at the beginning of the book and well remember the mid-80s obsession with Nuclear War I'm still not quite sure where this book is going. In all honesty, there is nowhere near enough in the First Impression for me to make an educated decision about whether or not I would enjoy this book.

The section from now written in a format which alludes to Haikus is an effective tool but doesn't pull the reader in to the story, well, not this reader. There is so little of his grandfather's story shared that you are just starting to get a feel for the characters when it ends. Sadly, before you have had chance to be come engrossed.

This could be a really, really good book or it could all be a resounding disappointment and at this stage I really have no clue which way it is going to go.
