I love historical fiction and my absolute favourite period is WWII historical fiction. There are so many hist fics from the European continent and I read my first historical nonfiction of WWII from England last year; I would LOVE to have an opportunity to read one from Japan - a country near and dear to my heart having been an exchange student there as a child and studying the language for 4 years in secondary school.

I think the period told in the present is fascinating, set up like small poems, not Haiku, but still a beautiful way of telling the story. I'm not sure if all of the parts told in present day will look like that but it would be fabulous if so!

The cover is very Japanese with the blood red son and immediately drew me to finding out what this story was all about and I'm not disappointed. I can't wait to read the rest!
