This was a very intense book, not usually my kind of read but, I thought I’d give it a go. Very sad, very descriptive and very thought provoking.
Set in an era before I was born, I had only seen grainy film about the atomic bomb that dropped on Hiroshima and had watched the interviews of the survivors of this terrible thing.
This book made me realise how life has changed since then for the better and hopefully we will never experience anything like this.
The main character’s suffering was very real and sometimes my stomach churned. I can honestly say that this was not an easy book to read and although I am glad I read it I don’t think I could read anything like this again.
My thanks to Readers First and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
