This was quite different to the kind of books I normally read, but very enjoyable.
The typeset is different, the colour of the pages, and so you know it's not going to be an 'ordinary story.' in fact it is an extraordinary story.
It brings the history of Hiroshima to life and makes me want to find out more about it.
The characters are easy to relate to and we soon build up an understanding of the relationship between the 'narrator' and his grandfather. I would image that this book would translate easily into a film, and can already imagine the poignant scenes, due to the excellent imaginative descriptive writing.
At the end of the day it's not just a story about Hiroshima, it's a story of people and of how they deal with events, which impact not only on their lives but on others around them.
