I thought this was a truly beautiful book, I devoured it in two sittings.
My knowledge of the Hiroshima disaster isn't vast so I can't vouch for its historical correctness however the story Kerry has created was really moving.
It had themes of love, family and friendship. Honest and real.
The writing style a mix of prose and verse suited the setting of the story so well and it moved your perfectly through the book.
The illustrations by Natsko Seki were simplistic but so effective in setting the scene and complimenting the story.
I highly recommend for a quick, engaging story that has real emotion.
I would certainly read more books by Kerry Drewery if this is anything to go by. She found magic in a ghastly distaster and that I skill!
