Such a lovely story. I read this front to back in two days! Told through the grandfathers eyes, Ichiro recounts his horrific ordeal when the Hiroshima bomb hit his village and how he tried to save his best friends daughter and how his saviour became his wife. Years later, wracked with guilt and retelling the story to his grandson, Ichiro comes face to face with his past. A moment where no words can describe what he is experiencing or seeing. Like I said a great book, written with fabulous style and lovely illustrations throughout, with a bonus origami paper crane to make at your on leisure. This book is not only a story but also a gift, highly recommend to all ages. I might just take up origami.....
