The story opens with Mizuki (in 2018) reminiscing about her grandfather. It then moves on to the heartbreaking recollection of her grandfather’s experience on the day that an atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima in 1945.

I absolutely loved the way this book was written. I don't mean just the words on the pages which evoke so much emotion and beautifully written. I also mean the way the book looks and feels. It's got a very zen feel about it and makes this emotional story easy to read.

At times the words look like a poem on the page and there are unique graphics throughout the book.

It feels so thoughtfully written and ensures the reader has an emotional connection and thoroughly engrossed.
