I absolutely loved this book, so much so I read it from cover to cover in one go, in under two hours. It's about the bombing of Hiroshima, which wasn't something I previously knew a great deal about, but the topic was dealt with powerfully yet sensitively and you can really tell that it's something the author, Kerry Drewery, cares deeply about. The characters were all so human and I felt drawn in and captivated by their story. I liked the fact that a lot of the book was written in poetry, which helped get the sense of culture across and made it really quick and easy to follow even though it's such a deep and important topic.
There's even a sheet of origami paper and instructions hidden away at the back of the book so you can make your very own paper crane when you've finished, which I thought was a beautiful touch.
