I couldn't put this book down. I knew very little about Hiroshima and what happened there and this novel makes me want to know more.
The book is a mix of prose and free verse which isn't something I've come across before, but it read beautifully and helped define the different time periods this book covers. I read this in one sitting, it was utterly compelling, the plight of the characters totally engrossing. It really catches your imagination and I found myself so caught up in what was happening, tears rolling down my face on one or two occasions.
