This book was written in a really interesting way, as the story is told through the use of poetry and prose. I felt that this added to the story telling and made the book more unique, rather than just another story.
It was interesting and fascinating to see the different perspectives from Mizuki and also from her grandparents. I thought it gave a personal touch to something which is quite often impersonal or generalised.
I really enjoyed this book and, despite it having such a devastating subject matter, it does make you want to learn all about what happened in more detail. Then author has a managed to tell a very human story.
I would definitely recommend this book and I look forward to reading other novels by this author.
