I didn’t really know much about what actually happened in Hiroshima in the year 1945 but this book really opened my eyes and actually encouraged me to do some more reading into what happened.
It’s a truly heartbreaking book so if you don’t like books that are full of doom and gloom, this isn’t for you.
However, this book also made me feel hope throughout as well and shows how people can persevere under the most dire of circumstances.
The illustrations by Natsko Seki are haunting yet beautiful and they really added to the overall reading experience, it’s not often I love illustrations on books but these ones were wonderful and really stood out.
The book is written partially in Haiku and this actually helps with evoking emotion in specific areas.
The book was a wonderful read from start to finish, I would recommend this to anyone, it’s educational and also a gripping read!
