I read this book in what was basically one sitting. I held my breath for the characters and felt the tears welling in my eyes. I cannot explain in depth what the feeling of reading this book is. It’s like an out of body experience where the book read itself. The writing is absolutely stunning, it’s beyond words. I can’t explain it at all. I’m so overwhelmed right now. Our protagonists father says “there’s magic in books” and if there is it’s in this book. Truly, this is where the magic of literature comes truly alive.
I don’t usually vibe with historical fiction it’s not really my scene but this is a definite exception (seemingly the theme at the moment).
This book has changed my damn life and I don’t even know what else to do. I’m just sat writing this review after staring into space tears in my eyes for half an hour. If you need me I’ll be contemplating my decisions and trying to fold a paper crane.
