I have absolutely loved reading this book. From the gorgeous cover to the instructions and paper to make your own paper crane, this book completely hit the spot for me.
The story starts in the present day with Mizuki who is worried for her Grandfather as he isn't himself. We then switch to Hiroshima 1945, the day the bomb dropped and the promises Mizuki grandfather made that devastating day. I was drawn into the story, Kerry Drewery has done a wonderful job of portraying this sad and poignant story of Mizukis Grandfather, the writing style is very different by I found this made the book much more enjoyable and felt she immersed the reader well.
We never really think about what actually happened to many innocent lives when we dropped those bombs in Japan, this book has beautifully shown a different side to the story.
I would highly recommend.
