Such a unique, inspirational book that gives an insight into the tragic events of Hiroshima. It explores the love and guilt felt by Ichiro and his extraordinary journey to find Keiko. The modern day sections are so intriguing and I love the way it is broken up with traditional Japanese haikus which I feel is a wonderful addition. The story is heartbreaking, but the ending, although kind of expected, was so joyful and just what I wanted. The illustrations really added to the emotion of the story and gave more of an insight into the reality of what happened. I also loved the piece of paper and instructions to make your own paper crane and felt like it gave me more of a connection with the characters.
