This book is unlike anything I’ve ever read before. The cover is beautiful, which makes sense because so is the story.
Set mainly in Hiroshima in 1945, I’m ashamed to say I previously knew very little about it. The story focuses mainly on Ichiro who is trying to fulfil his promise to his friend Hiro, to find Hiro’s little sister Keiko following the bombing.
It is a very moving story which I absolutely loved.
At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like the haiku’s and I remember thinking that I hope the whole book isn’t written like this! But I came to really enjoy the writing style and found this to be a riveting read which I didn’t want to put down but equally didn’t want to finish because I didn’t want it to end!
Thank you to Readers First and the publisher for giving me a free copy of this book in return for this review.
